Lives We Touch

Peter and Betty

On a recent visit we met with Peter and Betty.  Peter had worked for a company for 10 years and developed a severe back problem.  He was unable to continue his work and was let go.  The company denies any connection with the injury and Peter has received no severance.  Through his son, he was able to find another job but it is only part-time.  He has been unable to receive disability.  Betty as well has health concerns and currently is unable to work.  They are in their mid-fifties and have limited job skills. Their savings are quite restricted.  We helped pay their utilities and gave them food assistance.  However, my heart aches for them as they face a very uncertain future.

We aid with food, rent, utilities and other basic necessities in times of crisis through home visits from pairs of volunteer Vincentians.
